NIKIA M. LIGHTFOOT

My Breast Cancer Journey Journal 

Nikia M. Lightfoot is a native of Huntsville, Alabama, and a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and Spanish) and Florida Institute of Technology (Master of Science Degree in Logistics Management). She also studied Spanish abroad at the Universidad de Guadalajara (Jalisco, Mexico). In August 2012, at the age of 34, Nikia’s life was forever changed when she was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. She is now cancer free and considers herself a warrior after beating breast cancer. As a prevention advocate, her life’s mission is to educate and empower others to be proactive with their health and overall wellbeing.
 
She is a member of the Young Survivors Coalition and volunteers with several non-profit organizations in Madison County, Alabama. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Kimberly Fails Jones (KFJ) Foundation; a breast cancer foundation that services the needs of women and men fighting breast cancer. She is also the Grant Chair for the Venturi Brighter Day Board. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Greater Huntsville Area Chapter (NCBW-GHAC) and The International Society of Logistics (SOLE). She is a Certified Athletics and Fitness Association of America Group Exercise Instructor who enjoys teaching dance fitness. Nikia is also the CEO & Owner of Vujee Vegan, a plant-based/vegan comfort food kitchen.
